23.09.2014, WOLFSCHLUGEN, DEUTSCHLAND - Thomson Industries, Inc., stand no. 3451, will introduce the PC Series, precision, continuous duty electric linear actuators with the highest power density of any actuator in the class. The compact, efficient design rated IP65 provides machine builders clear advantages over traditional pneumatic linear actuators including simpler machine designs, lower maintenance and higher overall performance. With over 80% efficiency and using energy only on demand, PC series substantially reduces energy costs compared with pneumatic actuators that operate continuously and also carry the high maintenance costs of compressors and air leaks. Converting from pneumatic to electric actuation can generate annual energy savings per axis which exceed the cost of the new actuator.

Thomson also expanded its range of high performance, miniaturised components. The new precision TSI Rolled Ball Screws offer high load capacity, smoothness, quiet operation and can easily be customised. Thomson’s unique design, available in diameter sizes from 6 to 14mm, offers up to double the load capacity of alternate ball screws, for longer life and better return on investment.

New Miniature Metric Ball Bushing® Bearings offer smooth and rapid operation in a light, compact package for precision movements and short acceleration times. Double-lip integral wipers secure lubrication while keeping dirt out for a working life up to 27 times longer than conventional linear bearings. Corrosion resistant versions are available for use in harsh environments.

Thomson’s new Glide ScrewTM combines the best features of linear bearings and linear guides into an easy-to-install, one-part solution with miniature sizes available. Glide Screw? can handle axial, radial and moment loads and its self-lubricating design makes it effectively maintenance free.
